SeleCa Symposium 2015 in Aachen

SeleCa is the International Research Training Group “Selectivity in Chemo- and Biocatalysis” aims at understanding efficient and selective catalytic processes on a molecular level. Ten groups of RWTH Aachen University, one associated group from Forschungszentrum Jülich, and nine groups from Osaka University working in the areas of chemo- and bio-catalysis will collaborate to offer an educational platform for selected graduate students.

This year, there are four members from Fukusaki Lab including Prof. Fukusaki, Dempo (D2), An (D1) and Harada (D1) attended the Aachen-Osaka Joint Symposium in Aachen University. We hope that from our presentations, we were able to give a general view about metabolomics and its applications to all of the audiences.

But then, that was not the most interesting part ^.^
What really make us love Aachen is the acient catheral, street coffee shops, lovely houses with flowers on the balcony…such a peaceful and romantic city <3<3<3

The excursion tour took us to Cologne, the 4th biggest city in Germany. The organizer carefully arranged a tour for us to learn the history of this city. However, the only thing remain in my mind is how Agrippina murdered her husband, Emperor Claudius, and became the most most powerful woman of the country ^___^ …yeah…never underestimate a woman :)))))

We also cannot forget to mention about German beer and food. The German friends really “take good care” of us so that we could try many different kinds of traditional alcohol :D :D :D

Hope to meet all of SeleCa members again when the symposium is held in Osaka University ^.^
