Indonesian food

I had tried a lot of Indonesian food.
Sate kambing, Ayam goreng, Nasi Ayam, Grame goreng....
But rendang is the best for me.

Guest lecture at IPB

During my stay in Indonesia, I delivered many lectures.
The final lecture (two hours) was delivered at department of
chemistry and department of physics, IPB.
Discussion session was excellent!!

The following picture is certification ceremony.

 I got a yellow batik on the previous article.

My batik collection

During my stay in Bogor for two weeks, I really enjoyed wearing
long sleeve batik. I found I have eight batik!!
IPB batiks (beige and yellow) and pink batik is the best.
The front red batik is from Riau, Sumatera. This batik has 
different pattern.

酒蔵見学@菊正宗様

Hello,
I'm Taniguchi and in the second year of master course, but this blog is first time for me. :(

We (Kawasaki(B4), Taniguchi(M2), Prof. Fukusaki, Nakano(D1), Hayashi(M1)) went to Kikumasamune (Japanese sake company in Nada city, Kyoto) to see the brewery and sensory evaluation room.

First, we change our clothes to lab coats and saw the various fermentation equipment and aging tank following the manufacturing process. We could listened kind explanation about the details of each process.












Then, tasting samples were provided!























Next, we tried the sensory evaluation.














6 kinds of sake samples were provided. Among of them, 3 samples were Kimoto, and other 3 were different type. However, I couldn't distinguish two types of sake... If there were no tasting samples, it might be possible! In the sensory evaluation, I already might get a little drunk. :-P

We were able to see various things such as the barrel manufacture, analytical machines and the view of Mt. Rokko from the roof. We had a very nice time.

Welcome Korean party.

On Oct 24, Dr Lee Chang-Muk and his colleagues visited our labo.
He is driving a metabolomics research group in National Institute of Agricultural Science, Rural Development Admission, Korea.   They enjoy a discussion on metabolomics application and labo tour.  The tour was organized by my students, Mega, Emi, Moyu, Anja.

Workshop on scientific writing

スマトラ島のペカンバルというところに来ました。
今日はWCPのアクティビティーとしてScientific Writingの
1Day workshopで5時間ほど講義をしてきました。
5時間は
長い! 
Scientific writingとは言っても午前中は自分の生い立ちというか
過去の研究についての紹介。それなりには興味を持ってもらえたか?
午後はScientific Writingの話。自分は論文書くのが上手くないくせに
申し訳ない感じだが、reviewerとしての視点を説明してあげたら
結構納得してくれた気がする。
てか、この講義はラボでも、学科内でもやったほうがいいだろと思う。
 
明日はメタボロミクスとイメージングMSの話を5時間してきます。
こういうのは結構恥ずかしい。。。午前バージョン。
